Some people say "it is how it is" as a resignation (more like "it is how it is and I know how it is and it sucks") while others say it as an expression of letting go ("it s how it is, however it is"), and I'm rather a fan of the more open of the two ways of saying it and if I'm really stuck in resistance to what is I'll remind myself that it is what it is because if it wasn't then it wouldn't be. And in that circular statement which unravels itself into the absurdity of the obvious I am usually able to find release.
